About the Speakers

Evan Chuck, Crowell & Moring LLP
Evan Chuck is a partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office and is a member of the firm’s International Trade and Corporate Groups. He leads the firm’s Asia practice and is also a director of the firm’s China office in Shanghai. Evan has more than 25 years of international trade and cross-border transactional experience. He has been a strategic advisor to Fortune 500 companies in structuring market entry, global supply chain and e-commerce strategies across the Asia-Pacific region. He has in-depth experience in China with cross-border acquisitions/dispositions, government regulatory compliance, and investigations. He advises major multinational companies on navigating the potential conflicts between and among U.S., E.U., and newly emerging Chinese law, including the Anti-foreign Sanctions Law, the PRC “Blocking Statute”, the PRC Export Control Law, Unreliable Entity List, the PRC Cybersecurity Law, and the PRC Data Security Law. He has also been representing a select group of large, multinational Chinese companies with complex U.S. transactional, tax, and regulatory issues. Evan works closely with the firm’s government affairs group and consulting group, Crowell & Moring International, to align global geo-political policy and strategy with cross-border legal advice.

Mark Hermans, PwC
Mark Hermans is a Managing Director in PwC’s Operations Transformation practice based out of Washington DC. He has over twenty years of supply chain transformation experience with a focus on digital enablement to drive operations agility, resilience and efficiency. Mark has a successful track record working with clients on operations strategy development, operating model re-design, large-scale transformation, advanced analytics and operations due diligence. Areas of expertise include network footprint optimization, inventory optimization, materials management, supply chain planning and execution, lean manufacturing, order fulfilment and performance management. He has served clients across a variety of industries with a primary focus on industrial products and aerospace. Mark holds a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands.

Edward Hertzman, Sourcing Journal
Edward Hertzman received a degree in economics from NYU and spent more than a decade working as a top executive for major sourcing companies all over the world, including Synergies Worldwide and Pearl Global. Hertzman sits on the Board for Delivering Good, a charitable organization that channels the resources of the fashion industry to those in need.
In 2009, in response to a need in the industry, he founded Sourcing Journal Online. With more than 75,000 subscribers, Sourcing Journal Online is the largest trade journal devoted to the sourcing apparel and textile industry supply chain in the world. In August 2020, he was promoted to executive vice president of Fairchild Media, tasked with growing the businesses of all Fairchild Media titles in his new position, while continuing to lead the day-to-day operations at Sourcing Journal. He will also oversee the growth of Fairchild Media’s strategic content studio, bolstering the creation of engaging, interactive content to help industry partners stand out in an increasingly competitive landscape.

Steven J. Tanzi, Hilco Global
Steven is the President of Hilco’s Advisory Businesses which are Hilco Performance Solutions (HPS) and Getzler Henrich Associates (GHA). HPS provides traditional management consulting and advisory services to successful manufacturing and industrial companies working to improve their business performance. GHA provides turnaround and restructuring advisory services to businesses in the middle market.
Steven is an experienced manufacturing industry executive and management consultant who has helped numerous businesses solve challenging problems. He has over 25 years of experience supporting companies with their transformational efforts leveraging his knowledge of supply chain, operations, maintenance, customer experience, risk, M&A, organizational design, and financial planning and budgeting. Steven has a BS in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA in Supply Chain Management and Finance from Michigan State University.
Steven has formal training and experience utilizing Lean on both the manufacturing floor and in back-office business processes to support his performance improvement activities. His industry experience includes ownership of billion-dollar manufacturing P&Ls and holding senior roles in operations, supply chain as well as chief executive in North America and Europe. As a consultant, Steven has published and presented numerous thought leadership pieces on the Supply Chain and the power of Business Analytics.
