Keynote Speaker Dr. Dambisa Moyo
Global economist and New York Times best-selling author Dambisa Moyo will take center stage as our luncheon keynote speaker Thursday, September 26. Dr. Moyo is based in London and is a board member of 3M and Chevron. Formerly, she served on the board of Barclays. She is also a member of the Oxford University Endowment Fund Committee. She has a doctorate in economics from Oxford and a master’s from Harvard.
Dr. Moyo was born in Zambia and has traveled to 80 countries. She was named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World. She was featured at Fortune’s Global Forum last fall, and she has given multiple Ted Talks. Her latest book, published last year, is Edge of Chaos: Why Democracy is Failing to Deliver Growth-and How to Fix it. She makes the case that rising income inequality and a stagnant global economy are threats that leaders around the world can no longer afford to ignore.
Dr. Moyo will discuss Brexit, China/US relations, and climate change. She will explain the impact of the structural problems we face including population, inequality, scarcity, and technology. Dr. Moyo offers radical solutions to resolve them and reignite global growth. She will also take questions from the audience.
