About the Speakers:
Bill Derrough is a Managing Director and Global Co-Head of the Recapitalization & Restructuring Group at Moelis & Company. Mr. Derrough has extensive experience advising all types of parties in major restructurings including companies, boards of directors, creditor groups, shareholders, unions and governmental entities and has been instrumental in building-out the Firm’s restructuring franchise. Under his leadership, Moelis has established one of the world’s leading R&R teams, which has advised on more than 400 assignments globally representing over $1 trillion in value. The team was ranked #1 Restructuring Advisor both Globally and in the U.S. for 2019 completed engagements and was awarded the prestigious Restructuring Bank of the Year award for 2019 by IFR Magazine.
Mr. Derrough has 30 years of investment banking experience. From 1998 until joining Moelis & Company, he co-founded and co-headed the Recapitalization & Restructuring Group at Jefferies & Company. While at Jefferies, Mr. Derrough advised a wide spectrum of clients and investors on restructurings, recapitalizations, financings, mergers, and other engagements. Prior to joining Jefferies, Mr. Derrough was a Principal at Doyle & Boissiere, a private investment firm. Mr. Derrough began his investment banking career at Salomon Brothers Inc.
Mr. Derrough holds a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. He is the Treasurer of the Democratic National Committee and serves on the boards of Youth INC, Boy Scouts of Greater New York, Bennington College and the Academy of St. Joseph, New York.
Global Community Leader/Co-Leader Turnaround and Restructuring Services at AlixPartners. Lisa offers more than two decades of successful outcomes in the area of corporate transformation. She guides underperforming companies through complex negotiations and operational restructurings whether in the role of an interim executive as chief restructuring officer (CRO), chief financial officer (CFO), or executive vice president (EVP) or as a trusted advisor. Lisa has a degree in finance from Florida State University and is a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a board member of both industry organizations and philanthropic ones. Lisa is also a regular speaker at forums and events around the world.
Kate McGlynn is a senior member of the Creditor Services team at AlixPartners. She has more than 18 years of experience as a financial advisor in distressed and bankrupt situations, with a primary focus on advising unsecured creditor committees. Her experience includes serving clients in the airline, automotive, education, energy, financial services, health care, manufacturing, media and entertainment, mining, restaurant and retail industries. Kate has worked with debtors, senior lenders, unsecured creditors and bond insurers both in bankruptcy and out-of-court. Her experience has also involved working on litigation matters in bankruptcy situations. She has advised clients on all aspects of distressed and bankrupt situations, including financial and operational restructurings, asset sales, and liquidations.
Ben is respected as an expert in structuring complex asset acquisition and disposition transactions. He serves several roles within Hilco: Chief Executive Officer of Hilco Merchant Resources, a world leader in retail asset disposition and operational services; and as Executive Vice President of Hilco Global, the holding company for the entire Hilco platform.
In his roles with Hilco Merchant Resources and Hilco Global, Ben helps companies, their lenders and professional advisors structure transactions to maximize returns on inventory, machinery and equipment, real estate and accounts receivable. Since 1996, Ben has structured and managed some of the largest and most complex asset disposition transactions in North America. Ben has also worked to acquire and develop licensing strategies for numerous iconic brand names, including Sharper Image, Tommy Armour Golf, Bombay Company, Linens ‘N Things, Polaroid and Aéropostale.
Josh Sussberg is a partner in the Restructuring Practice Group of Kirkland & Ellis. Josh represents debtors, creditors, equity holders, sponsors, boards of directors and investors in all aspects of restructuring stressed and distressed companies. The 2020 edition of Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Business Lawyers noted that clients consider Josh to be an “outstanding lawyer.” The 2020 edition of Chambers USA, America’s Leadings Lawyers for Business ranked Josh as a top lawyer both nationally and in New York, with one source noting “[h]e is an experienced attorney with tremendous depth in restructuring from a legal and commercial perspective.
